Signs to watch out for
- The cylinder sticks out from the lock or shield — easier to grip and force
- The lock is single-turn or a bit-key (warded) type, with no extra protection
- There's no security shield: the cylinder is exposed to drilling or prying
- You live on the ground floor or somewhere visible from the street
- The door or frame has play in it, or the wood around the lock is deteriorated

- Switch to a high-security lock (anti-bumping, anti-picking, anti-drill)
